Making a gift to

Below are some of the most popular ways Cod Healthcare receives donations.
As always, you may designate your
gift to benefit Cape Cod Hospital,
Falmouth Hospital or the Visiting
Nurse Association. Unrestricted gifts
to Cape Cod Healthcare are dispersed
where the need is most urgent.
- Cash.
A gift of cash is fully tax-deductible
up to fifty percent of the donor’s
adjusted gross income for the year
in which the gift was made.
- Stock
Gifts. When giving securities,
such as stocks, treasury certificates
or bonds, donors can claim the full
fair market value of the gift as
a tax deduction and avoid capital
gains tax on the appreciation of
the asset. Please note that your
income tax deduction in the year
of the gift is limited to 30 percent
of your adjusted gross income for
the year in which the gift was made.
However, any “excess”
deduction over the limit may be
carried forward for five years,
permitting full use of the tax benefit.

- Other
Assets. Other appreciable
assets can be donated with similar
advantages as above. These include
an outright gift of real estate,
such as land or a house, or other
tangible personal property such
as jewelry or artwork.
- Annual
Giving. Annual gifts help
to sustain the day-to-day operations
and expenses of Cape Cod Healthcare.
These gifts enable Cape Cod Healthcare
to better prepare for ongoing challenges,
such as the recruitment of physicians
and nurses, staff training and development
for advanced services and procedures,
as well as caring for the under-insured.
- Planned
Giving. There are several
ways to make a significant future
gift to Cape Cod Healthcare while
retaining an income stream from
the asset that is used to make the
