Cape Cod Healthcare Oncology Staffers Achieve Significant Industry Honors

James C. Chingos, M.D., Jeff Gaudet, a Social Worker at the Upper Cape Oncology Center

Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - (Hyannis, February 12, 2008) Cape Cod Healthcare is pleased to announce today that two members of its Oncology Services program have recently received important recognitions in their respective fields.

James C. Chingos, M.D., FACP, Medical Director for the Falmouth Hospital Cancer Center at Mashpee, was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP). An ACP Fellowship is an honor achieved by those recognized by their peers for personal integrity, superior competence in internal medicine, professional accomplishment and demonstrated scholarship.

“It’s a significant honor,” Dr. Chingos said, “I’m delighted to have been elected an ACP Fellow. It is a memorable achievement in the career of any physician.” Dr. Chingos will be formally inducted and honored in a special ceremony at the ACP’s annual internal medicine meeting in May in Washington D.C.

In addition, Jeff Gaudet, a Social Worker at the Upper Cape Oncology Center in Mashpee, has received his Oncology Social Work certification. This certification promotes excellence in psychosocial oncology care and demonstrates Jeff's additional competence in his field.

“These two honors are more examples of the tremendous strides Cape Cod Healthcare has made over the past few years in providing an array of exceptional oncology services,” said Margy Hanson, Chief Operating Officer of Cape Cod Hospital. “Our Cancer Services program now offers a complete range of advanced cancer treatment options, highly trained specialists and first-rate technology and facilities. We’re delighted that the hard work and commitment Dr. Chingos, Jeff and others have made in building our oncology program has been recognized in the health care industry.”
