Few people think
seriously about health care until
faced with an illness or life-threatening
event. In such times, Cape Cod Hospital
is a vital community resource, ensuring
the highest level of quality care
close to home. The 243-bed acute care
facility located in Hyannis operates
an emergency center that is among
the busiest in Massachusetts during
the summer months.
The Cape Cod community,
through its generosity and support,
plays an important role in the growth
and development of Cape Cod Hospital.
In January of 2007, Cape Cod Hospital opened Phase I of the Marian G. and Stephen P. Mugar Building, providing our community with two new patient floors housing 60 new private inpatient hospital beds. This monumental accomplishment began to address the need for adequate inpatient resources within the Cape Cod Healthcare community and was received with much excitement and pride by both our staff and the residents, visitors and businesses that we serve.
With the help our our community, Cape Cod Hospital continues to move forward to expand both inpatient and outpatient facilities and services through the current initiatives.
During the Campaign’s leadership gift phase, local philanthropists, Frank and Maureen Wilkens, demonstrated their support of CCHC by making a transformational gift towards the development of additional outpatient facilities in the Mid-Cape. To honor this outstanding generosity, the new state-of-the-art medical community will be named Wilkens Medical Complex .
This project will initially include a Diagnostic Pavilion that will house Women's Imaging services Medical Office space.
