What is Cape Cod
Healthcare?
Cape Cod Healthcare
is a comprehensive regional health
care system serving residents and
visitors of the Cape. It was formed
in 1996, when the Boards of Trustees
of Cape Cod Hospital, Falmouth Hospital
and the Visiting Nurse Association
of Cape Cod merged.
Cape Cod Healthcare
offers two acute care hospitals, the
largest home health services agency
on the Cape, a skilled nursing and
rehabilitation facility, an assisted
living facility, ambulatory care centers,
and community health services and
programs supported by more than 450
physicians and 4,500 employees.
Why
was the merger of Cape Cod Hospital,
Falmouth Hospital and the Visiting
Nurse Association necessary?
The merger enabled
Cape Cod Healthcare to reduce its
operating costs below state and national
averages while maintaining quality
of care. Partnering organizations
also benefit from shared resources
and cross access to specialty practice
areas, helping to deliver a continuum
of care that can positively impact
patient outcomes.
Cape Cod Hospital,
Falmouth Hospital and the VNA are
working together to ensure a health
care system that provides “care
at every stage of life and for virtually
any medical need.”
Is
Cape Cod Healthcare a non-profit organization?
Yes. Cape Cod Healthcare
is a 501C3 tax exempt public charity.
This means that all contributions
are tax-deductible to the extent permitted
by law.
How
does Cape Cod Healthcare raise funds?
Funds are raised
through charitable donations. Cape
Cod Healthcare Foundation secures
and administers philanthropic giving
to Cape Cod Healthcare and its partner
organizations through capital campaigns,
annual giving programs, planned giving
and special events that take place
throughout the year.
Is
it possible to designate how my gift
is used?
Yes. Gifts can
be restricted to a specific organization
or purpose within the Cape Cod Healthcare
system. In these cases, 100 percent
of the gift goes to its intended purpose.
Unrestricted gifts to Cape Cod Healthcare
are dispersed where the need is most
urgent.
Why
do all contributions go to a Hyannis
address?
For efficiency,
certain business functions of the
Foundation have been centralized.
Gifts that have been designated to
Cape Cod Hospital, Falmouth Hospital
or the VNA are all processed in the
Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation office,
which is located in Hyannis. Funds
are still allocated according to donors’
requests.
How
can I help?
Your gift can make
a difference by helping to provide
a broad range of accessible, quality
health services throughout Cape Cod.
The Giving
section of this web site outlines
the many different ways to make philanthropic
contributions, as well as the related
benefits.
