By establishing
a charitable remainder trust, you
can provide an income to yourself
or someone you name, while ultimately
making a contribution to health care
on the Cape. With this type of gift
plan, you irrevocably transfer assets
into a trust that is managed by yourself
or a third party.
There are two types
of charitable remainder trusts. A
charitable remainder unitrust
pays a fixed percentage of the trust’s
value annually to one or more beneficiaries,
meaning that the actual payout will
change on a yearly basis, while a
charitable remainder annuity trust
pays a fixed amount annually that
is determined when the trust is created.
Payments are made out of the trust’s
income, or the trust principal if
the income is inadequate. Both options
offer specific advantages, which we
are happy to discuss with you or your
advisors.
When the trust
term ends, the final principal amount
passes to the Cape Cod Healthcare
Foundation for use as you designate.
